I’ve heard back from the publisher on my faerie book. Wow! That was quick! And…
They’ve offered me a contract.
While I’m very happy about that, I’m still considering all my options here. The contract seems fair, and the publisher and the managing editor seem very nice. There is the possibility of having the book in print if sales of the ebook form are good.
But I haven’t signed the contract yet because I need to learn more about this company. What scares me is the fact that they are still very new. We all know the heartbreaking ordeal I had with with first publisher for How Faerie Dust is Made. And that publisher was new, too. They closed their doors only three months after they officially opened. Once bitten and all that. You know?
Plus, I’m a little worried about how my book will fit in at this publisher. They are in the process of expanding and my faerie book will be one of, if not the first of it’s kind at this publisher. That may sound like a good thing, but it could also work against me. People wouldn’t know to look for this kind of book at this publisher. That’s if they knew to check this publisher’s shelves at all. Like I said, they are still very new.
I’m going to give myself some more time to learn about the publisher, go over the contract, and make this decision. I’ll let you know when anything is official.
On my other book, A Real Husband, I still haven’t heard anything. It’s been 9 weeks and the publisher said to allow 12 weeks. That means it won’t be much longer.
I’m still hoping to receive good news soon.
In the meantime, I’m working on my western. I added about 3000 words yesterday. Yay! For me, that’s a lot in one day. I should break the 20k mark today. But that’s only if I get to work on it.
Later!
